This Vacation Home in Barneveld, New York Offers a Peaceful, Scenic Getaway

If you want a vacation that’s actually relaxing and not exhausting, this upstate New York property just might be the perfect fit for you!

You know that feeling you feel when you want a vacation from your vacation?

Yeah, you hate that feeling. Everyone does. The purpose of a vacation is to relax, not to feel as if you got zero rest. (Even if you did get to do a lot of sightseeing, eat lots of great food, see cool paintings, etc.)

That’s why if you’re truly looking to get away from it all, an isolated house in upstate New York might be just the ticket.

Zillow currently lists a lovely little property in Barneveld, New York for sale for $264,900 at the time of publication. The address alone—10779 State Route 365—makes one shiver in anticipation of the peace and quiet. Indeed, Barneveld is quite a small place. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the 2017 population estimate as of July 1, 2017 is 279. That’s right. Not even 300 people are in this area, which means you can easily hog all of the nature to yourself.

And nature is aplenty here. The Zillow posting shows a creek AND a small waterfall next to the property, and photos of the house and surrounding lands show that this getaway would be picturesque in any season. You can hunker down when it gets cold or sit outside and enjoy the beautiful views and sunshine when it’s warmer. Pay especially close attention to the autumn photos, which show that season in true New England splendor.

(Oh, and speaking of seasons, you need to climb a set of stairs to get to the house’s brilliant red front door, which means you and your guests have ample opportunity to shake snow and mud off of your boots before you step inside.)

Now for the house itself.

Behind that big red door lies 1,576 square feet of pure cozy. The interior has wood and stone throughout, which adds to that rustic feel. A kitchen looks over a living room and dining area, and there’s even room for a desk and chair. A stove anchors the space and adds to that whole comfy vibe.

There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is perfect if you want to have company over, but not TOO much company. (Again, this is your vacation getaway.)

While the place has a rustic feel (Hello, adorable warming stove!) it’s still modern enough to satisfy even the most fanatic of HGTV watchers without losing its distinct mountain-cabin feel. The bathrooms and bedrooms are all comfortable sizes. If you’re vacationing with close friends and/or family, everyone will surely feel very kumbaya. Plus, amenities include modern wonders such as a dishwasher, a washer and dryer set, a garbage disposal, thermal windows and a breakfast bar, plus hardwood, laminate and tile flooring throughout.

Per the Zillow posting, the kitchen is newly renovated with characteristics such as maple cabinets and laminate flooring.

The Zillow description reads like poetry, and the following sample alone deserves a Pulitzer: “Marvel at the porcelain tile as you walk down the bright hallway towards the Master Ensuite: a beautiful room filled with natural light, complete with marble flooring and a bright tiled shower. Wake up every morning and breathe in a sigh of contentment as you gaze at the splendor of the Cincinnati Creek through your large casement window, and enjoy your morning coffee by means of your private doorway that leads right to your outdoor deck.”

So there you have it! There’s a time for busy, active, and even loud vacations that involve a lot of activity and sightseeing and late-night partying. But if you want a real vacation, one that relaxes both the body and mind, then this New York retreat is definitely for you!
