CelebrityEnvy: Serena Williams & Alexis Ohainen

The tennis icon and Reddit co-founder’s new Beverly Hills mansion is a peaceful oasis in their busy lives as new parents to their daughter, Alexis Olympia

Serena Williams had an eventful 2017, even by the 23-time Grand Slam champion’s standards. She won the Australian Open while pregnant, had her first child, got married AND purchased a new home! Williams and husband Alexis Ohanian dropped $6.7 million on a mansion in the gated Summit Estates neighborhood of Beverly Hills, California.

‘Chic’ doesn’t even begin to cover the impressive five-bedroom, seven-bathroom Spanish contemporary home built in 2017. The three-story, 6,000-square-feet space employs a minimalist design. Its crisp white walls juxtaposed with bold black window frames throughout emphasize the open floor plan, with brushed-oak hardwood floors serving as the perfect accent.

The arched, wooden front door opens to a main floor that flows seamlessly between the living space centered by a black fireplace, study with bay windows, family room, dining room and kitchen. Statement lighting throughout includes gilded chandeliers, some of the numerous golden accents found in Williams and Ohainen’s abode. The massive kitchen and its double-wide island provide the perfect setting for Williams to whip up her mom’s famous chicken recipe we’ve read so much about. White and grey cabinetry, including a built-in hutch, compliment black and white marble countertops.

Upstairs, Williams and Ohainen’s master bedroom carries on the minimalist, contemporary layout and color scheme. The room has its own fireplace, plus a terrace where the pair can enjoy an expansive view of L.A. and the San Fernando Valley. Folding glass doors lead to the private master bathroom, a room we personally would never willingly choose to leave. Its stand-alone tub sits nicely under a window across from the huge black-and-white tiled walk-in shower. Gold fixtures adorn two sinks separated by a long vanity. See what we mean?

If Williams and Ohainen do end up choosing to leave the master bath (again, we don’t see why), their home’s lower level seems like the perfect hangout spot. Its features include a game room, a black-marble-topped wet bar with a glass-enclosed, walk-in wine cellar behind it. Additionally, what would the home of a superstar athlete be without a massage room? Williams worked that in and more, adding a super relaxing, super cool yoga room to the mix.

To take advantage of the Southern California sunshine, Fleetwood glass doors on the main floor open to a gorgeous patio with a built-in grill and sprawling lawn with a swimming pool set into the terraced and planted hillside behind the house. Noticeably absent is a tennis court, something Williams also made a point of at her former home in Bel Air, California (her commitment to work-life balance is legendary). The space operates as a truly ideal refuge from busy days jam-packed with business, providing a picture-perfect setting for the couple’s new journey in parenthood.
