CelebrityEnvy: John Krasinski and Emily Blunt’s One-time Brooklyn Townhouse

The star couple’s $6.562 million Park Slope home features the perfect combination of modern upgrades and historic details.

There are a lot of reasons to envy Emily Blunt and John Krasinski -- their adorable children, Violet and Hazel, their seemingly rock-solid marriage (#relationshipgoals) and their enviable careers, including their critically acclaimed co-starring roles in A Quiet Place (also directed by Krasinski). If that wasn’t enough, the couple is also quite savvy about real estate, recently unloading a 5,200 square foot Park Slope townhouse for $6.562 million, nearly half a million dollars more than they paid for it just two years earlier, Curbed reported.

Built in 1909, the property was renovated by Michael Ingui of Baxt Ingui Architects. Architectural Digest notes that the couple put $300,000 into the renovation, keeping original details like stained glass windows and built-in leaded cabinets, and adding modern upgrades like custom motorized window treatments, radiant heated floors and a marble fireplace surround.

The listing for the four story, seven bedroom property at 586 4th Street highlights a wood-burning fireplace, oversized windows, original bordered parquet floors, a coffered dining room ceiling, a master bedroom with bay windows, walk-in closets throughout the space, Miele washer and dryer and more. The Park Slope Historic District home also boasts three and a half baths.

Park Slope, a neighborhood that features historic buildings, quality public schools, was named one of the most expensive neighborhoods in New York City by Forbes.com in its list of emerging luxury real estate markets. PropertyShark.com reported a median home sale price of $1,057,500 in the second quarter of 2018 in Park Slope, and the neighborhood was ranked number 1 on New York magazine’s The Most Livable Neighborhoods in New York list.

In addition to the Park Slope home, Blunt and Krasinski have made some other significant real estate moves over the past few years. Krasinski purchased a Hollywood Hills home, located above the historic Chateau Marmont hotel, in 2009 for $1.9 million. The beautifully renovated home now features nearly double the original square footage and the couple made an impressive profit after selling it to Kendall Jenner for $6.5 million in 2016.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Blunt and Krasinski sold their 4,200 square foot Ojai retreat for $2.4 million in 2017, four years after purchasing the property for $2.15 million. The country estate featured a pool with a spa, solar panels, a three car garage and more than five acres of property.

As Blunt and Krasinski’s stars continue to rise, the couple is sure to continue making interesting and business-savvy real estate investments.
