Learn how this up and comer found real estate after a career in marketing and hasn't looked back

Sarah Langum has had a passion for real estate since high school, but officially began her career in the industry in 2009, in marketing for a mortgage broker. Since then, she has grown to become a full-time realtor, helping homebuyers and sellers through the process smoothly and with integrity.

What drew you to real estate?

I actually shadowed a real estate agent in high school and I absolutely loved it! After starting my career in marketing for a mortgage company, I knew becoming a realtor was the right next step.

What changes in the industry currently excite you?

I see a lot of people investing in developing neighborhoods and helpful programs in place to help new and aspiring homeowners, which I hope will lead to the growth of economic empowerment throughout the city.

How did you get to the place you are currently at in your career?

I have had the training and guidance of some amazing mentors, along with the trust of my clients, to use me on a repeated basis and refer me to their personal contacts.

What advice do you have for up-and-comers?

Be ready to work hard. If you are prepared to focus and work hard to grow your business in your own individual way, you will do great!!

What motivates you every day?

I really enjoy building relationships with my clients. Having the opportunity to spend the day helping people fulfill one of their basic needs by choosing a home or starting a business in property investment is truly a blessing.

How do you market yourself to stand out from the competition?

I actually don’t do a lot of marketing right now outside of a basic internet presence. I am working on building my social media platforms and marketing plan, but referral has been my primary source of business thus far.

Do you have any real estate role models?

I am lucky to have direct exposure to a number of my real estate role models on a regular basis working at Dream Town Realty. It is great to have so many established professionals available and willing to help and answer your questions.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

On the path to teaching Continuing Education courses through the Chicago Association of Realtors, becoming a Managing Broker and consistently growing my team and my business.
