How did you get started in real estate?

I got into the business because I thought I would have more free time than the catering and event planning that I had been in. I really envisioned myself out having lunch all the time, but that’s not the case! It’s a 24/7 full, mental engagement business, and the more you put into it, the more you get out of it for sure!

To what do you attribute your success?

My success came from my ability to understand what each individual client wants and needs, and my 24-hour availability.

What is the key to closing deals in the real estate industry?

It’s imperative to coddle the deal all the way to the closing and stay involved. Even when it’s in the attorney’s hands, you still make the deal happen.

What trends do you see in the market right now?

This market only wants new. They want the hip vibe that really came post-recession, and they don’t want to take additional money out of their pockets post close to achieving that look.

Why is Chicago a good place to work in real estate?

Chicago has such a great energy. People want to be in the city, and there is so much change happening. The restaurants are great, the city is quick and easy to get around for a major city, and the people are kind. What more could we ask for, besides a few more degrees of warmth?

What's the hottest neighborhood in Chicago, or the Chicago suburbs right now?

Logan Square is cooler than cool. It’s got the best shops, restaurants and fantastic housing stock.

Who is your real estate idol?

My husband, Thad Wong, for sure. He is all things real estate. His depth of knowledge is unbelievable.

What advice would you give new agents?

Embrace this business and give it every ounce of energy, and it will give you more. It’s the best industry and business!
