CNBC: How to Find the Best Location to Buy a Home

Real estate developer Sidney Torres explains why it’s important to know an area inside and out before purchasing a home.

Finding the perfect location for your next home isn’t all about the address. According to Sidney Torres, a real estate developer and host of CNBC’s “The Deed,” making money in real estate comes down to buying homes in the sweet spot between up-and-coming neighborhoods and the outskirts of the area.

After finding the area that you think is best for you, Torres then advises spending time there. But that means committing to checking out the neighborhood at all times of the day, and making sure that you’re close to things like schools, shopping centers and transportation hubs.

“To really learn about a market, to really learn about an area, I think you drive around the area,” said Torres to CNBC. “You walk the area. And I am not talking just once. I am talking in the morning, when the sun is rising, when the sun is setting, in the evening. I think it’s important to go during the day.”
